1040-SR

  • Federal tax return for seniors age 65 and older with straightforward finances.​
  • Includes reporting of wages, salaries, Social Security, pensions, and other basic income, generally no dependents or complex deductions.

Form 1040

  • Standard federal individual income tax return for most taxpayers filing for tax year 2025.​
  • Used to report wages from Forms W‑2, income from Forms 1099, unemployment, tuition statements, dependents, and most common credits and deductions.​

Personal & Business Tax Preparation

  • Complete individual return (Form 1040 or 1040‑SR) with Schedule C for small business or self‑employment income, including dependents if applicable.​
  • Includes reporting of business income and expenses, depreciation of business assets, itemized deductions, and self‑employment tax calculations.
     


State Tax Returns

Individual State Returns

  • Preparation of one state income tax return for 2025; may be required if you lived or worked in that state.​
  • Additional state returns may be needed if you moved between states or worked in multiple states during 2025.


States with NO state individual income tax, so a typical state income tax return is not required, are Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire* ​ South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas,​ Washington, Wyoming. *New Hampshire has phased out its tax on interest and dividends, so it no longer taxes personal income. ​ Even in these states, residents may still file other types of returns (for example, local, business, or franchise taxes), but there is no regular personal state income tax return on wages. ***Note for clients: If you need prior‑year returns prepared or amended, or have unusual situations, please contact the office for a custom quote. All services include audit support for work completed, helping you understand and respond to any IRS or state tax notices related to these returns.

For the 2025 tax year (returns filed in 2026), the standard deduction increases for all filing statuses.​


Core standard deduction amounts

  • Single: $15,750.​
  • Married filing separately: $15,750.​
  • Married filing jointly or qualifying surviving spouse: $31,500.​
  • Head of household: $23,625.​


Additional amounts for age 65+ or blind

  • Extra standard deduction if single or head of household and age 65 or older or blind: $2,000 per qualifying condition.​
  • Extra standard deduction if married (joint or separate) or qualifying surviving spouse and age 65 or older or blind: $1,600 per qualifying condition.
